thinjackLeading Aberdeenshire-based oil service company ThinJack Ltd has reached an agreement with a prominent Middle East oil and gas operating company and what could be ThinJack’s largest ever agreement in the region.

The agreement is for the removal of multiple well Christmas trees on surface platforms in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt.  It follows the successful completion of emergency work to assist with the restoration of water injection, using innovative technical services, and a comprehensive tendering and contracting process.

The news of the agreement follows ThinJack’s successful tenth anniversary year in 2015 and marks the third anniversary of its alliance with the Egyptian company, Yadco Petroleum Services, who will play a key role in the delivery of the new contract.  Based in New Maadi, Cairo, Yadco Petroleum Services was established in 1989 to introduce new technologies to the Egyptian oil industry from international service companies.

ThinJack has also received help from Scottish Development International (SDI) to open up new opportunities in the Egyptian market. This has included participating in SDI-led trade missions to Egypt which introduce a range of Scottish companies and organisations to Egyptian companies, especially in the upstream energy sector. SDI is a partnership between the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise which aims to attract inward investment to Scotland and assists Scottish based companies to trade overseas.

Commenting on the agreement ThinJack’s Managing Director Guy Bromby said: “We are privileged and delighted to have been selected to deliver efficient, technology-based services to help increase Egypt’s oil production and support their well integrity programme.

“Yadco Petroleum Services have delivered world-class support during the tendering and procurement process and we look forward to the well operations which will create new jobs and revenue in both Egypt and Scotland. Indeed, several five-figure sub contracts for equipment and services have already been placed with our supply companies in both countries, leading to the creation of two new full time jobs.

“This contract demonstrates the strength of niche technology service companies such as ours working proactively with their local partners and oil and gas operators to achieve significant cost savings when compared with traditional methods.”

Mr David Rennie, international sector head for oil and gas at Scottish Enterprise said: “ThinJack Ltd’s announcement is further evidence of Scotland’s strengths in oil and gas and its strong reputation globally. Through our international arm, SDI, we have supported the company’s journey into this key market and I congratulate them on this well-deserved result.  It is testament to the technology, innovation and resilience of this small Scottish company in international markets together with its ability to work with both local partners and Egyptian oil and gas operating companies.”

Mr. Mostafa Ghalwash of Yadco Petroleum Services added: “This technology-based service, combined with the entrepreneurship and commitment of ThinJack Ltd’s staff, is sought after by Egyptian upstream operating companies with platform-based wells.  We are delighted, and feel very fortunate, to be a key part of this team and look forward to many years of fruitful service together to the Egyptian oil industry.”
