Infographic: Siemens will boost Egypt's power generation capacity by 50%
Three natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants – each powered by eight Siemens H-Class gas turbines – and up to 600 wind turbines will boost Egypt’s power generation capacity by more than 50 percent compared to the currently installed base. Beginning in 2017, they will add power to the grid in stages and will add an additional 16.4 gigawatts in total to Egypt’s national grid. This will support the country’s rapid economic development and meet its growing population’s demand for power. The volume of €8 billion is the single biggest order for Siemens up to now. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel witnessed the signing ceremony in Berlin, Germany.
