Edison International achieves milestone in Abu Qir, starting production from new platform NA/Q-PIII
Edison International Spa achieved a new significant milestone in Abu Qir Concession offshore Egypt starting gas production from the new platform North Abu Qir PIII (NA/Q-PIII).
The first production well, NAQPIII#1, was turned on stream with outstanding performances on the 2nd April 2017 increasing the overall gas output of the field by the 20% circa. Two additional wells are expected to be completed within July 2017 boosting significantly the Abu Qir Field production.
It is worth mentioning that North Abu Qir PIII (NA/Q-PIII) Platform project has been developed by the Joint Venture Abu Qir Petroleum after the discoveries performed during the 2011 exploration campaign. The completion of the construction and installation of NA/Q-PIII platform was on time and within budget.
Abu Qir Petroleum is a Company formed in 2009 under a joint agreement between Egyptian General Petroleum (EGPC) and Edison International Spa, ever since that date AQP holds the concession for exploration, development and exploitation in Abu Qir Field.
The new production from NA/Q-PIII Platform in addition to the recent oil discovery made by NA/Q P-I#10x well which was brought on stream at the beginning of March 2017, further confirms the significant potential of the Abu Qir Concession.
