BP Egypt announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Egyptian National Paralympic Committee (ENPC) as its top level partner and also official oil and gas and energy partner through to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, furthering its long-running association with Egypt’s Olympic and Paralympic movements.
Commenting on the agreement, Hesham Mekawi, BP North Africa Regional President said: “We’re proud of our long-term partnership with the Egyptian National Paralympic Committee, and our joint efforts to support the Egyptian Paralympians. Our goal is to develop the lives of the Egyptian para athletes by providing opportunities and resources to help them compete on the world stage. BP Egypt is committed to further developing strong links with our community and partners”.
The agreement was signed by BP Egypt to mark a new phase of this partnership that will consolidate the company’s role in sustainable social development in Egypt as the official oil and gas partner of the ENPC. BP is also looking to support of a number of promising Egyptian athletes to be BP brand ambassadors through to the Tokyo 2020 session.
“BP will also look to support official International Paralympics Committee (IPC) Sports events in Egypt helping to enable the growth of para-sports and promote Egypt’s resources for hosting regional and international sporting events,” added Mekawi.
BP has been a partner of the Paralympic movement since 2008 and is currently an official partner of the International Paralympic Committee to 2020. BP Egypt was the first oil and gas company to become an official partner of the Egyptian National Olympic and Paralympic Committees since the establishment of the Egyptian Olympic Committee in 1910. “We are proud to have BP Egypt as one of the members of the ENPC family of sponsors, and we are thrilled that BP’s commitment to the Egyptian Paralympians will continue through 2020,” commented Dr. Hayat Khattab, Chairman of the ENPC.
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will be held between 25 August and 6 September 2020.
